If a person has a complaint about VLA’s compliance with the Legal Aid Act 1978, then the person may contact either:
Either VLA’s Managing Director or the Victorian Ombudsman (whichever the person contacted) may investigate the complaint. They may need to contact the person to seek more information. They will advise the person of the outcome of the investigation in writing.
Alternatively, VLA’s Managing Director may refer the complaint to the Office of the Victorian Ombudsman for investigation. If so, the Managing Director will advise the person of this in writing.
If VLA’s Managing Director investigated the complaint and the person complaining is not satisfied with the outcome, then they should complain to the Office of the Victorian Ombudsman.
